On the Unique-Lifting Property

We study the uniqueness of minimal liftings of cut generating functions obtained from maximal lattice-free polytopes. We prove a basic invariance property of unique minimal liftings for general maximal lattice-free polytopes. This generalizes a previous result by Basu, Cornuéjols and Köppe [3] for simplicial maximal lattice-free polytopes, thus completely settling this fundamental question abou...

Lifting the Determinantal Property

In this note we study standard and good determinantal schemes. We show that there exist arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay schemes that are not standard determinantal, and whose general hyperplane section is good determinantal. We prove that if a general hyperplane section of a scheme is standard (resp. good) determinantal, then the scheme is standard (resp. good) determinantal up to flat deformatio...

On the Lifting Property and Disintegration of Measures

In what follows we shall present certain results concerning the lifting property of a space L°°(Z, ju), where Z is locally compact and 11 a positive measure on Z. We shall discuss several applications and state several problems. Most of the results which will be presented here were jointly obtained by A. lonescu Tulcea and the author, during the last few years. Some of these results have alread...

On the strong p-Helly property

The notion of strong p-Helly hypergraphs was introduced by Golumbic and Jamison in 1985 [M.C. Golumbic, R.E. Jamison, The edge intersection graphs of paths in a tree, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 38 (1985) 8–22]. Independently, other authors [A. Bretto, S. Ubéda, J. Žerovnik, A polynomial algorithm for the strong Helly property. Inform. Process. Lett. 81 (2002) 55–57, E. Prisner, Hereditary clique-...

The Lifting Property for Classes of Mappings

The lifting property of continua for classes of mappings is defined. It is shown that the property is preserved under the inverse limit operation. The results, when applied to the class of confluent mappings, exhibit conditions under which the induced mapping between hyperspaces is confluent. This generalizes previous results in this topic.
